The Kebbi State Police operatives have arrested three suspected gunrunners, recovers one fabricated AK-47 rifle, seven hundred and thirty seven round of live ammunition in Bena and Dolekaina.
The Command's Public Relations officer CSP Nafiu Abubakar has disclosed in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital Wednesday.
"On the 30th October, 2025, the Divisional Police Officer, Bena, while on joint patrol with the Police Mobile personnel attached to No 36 PMF squadron, Birnin Kebbi, along Bena-Ribah road, reasonably suspected and arrested one Rabi'u Umar of Karen Bana village, Mariga LGA of Niger State, and Nasiru Hussaini of Doya village, Bauchi State".
According to him, when they were searched, one fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 7.62X39mm live ammunition were found in their possession.
"In the same vain, on the 3rd November, 2025, a team of Policemen attached to the Divisional Police headquarters, Dolekaina, while on surveillance patrol at Bakin Mashaya area, Dolekaina, intercepted and apprehended one Lawwali Ibrahim of Anka town, Anka LGA of Zamfara State, in possession of Seven Hundred and Thirty Two (732) rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition". He said
The statement added that, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to have smuggled the exhibits into Nigeria from Mokassa town, Benin Republic, with intention to deliver it to Anka town.
The Police image maker stated that already the two cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for thorough investigation and diligent protection.
