The Kebbi state Governor Nasir Idris has formally handed over the 24 schoolgirls of Maga Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School whose gain their freedom yesterday from the hands of bandits to their families.
The event took place at government house Birnin Kebbi the state, in the presence of their, parents, the governor, well wishers and some government officials.
Speaking during the event, Governor Nasir commend the courage, resilience and bravery of the combined team of security personnel deployed for search and rescue operations during the unfortunate incident, as well as appreciated the good people of Kebbi State for their support and prayers.
He also appreciate the effort of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu for his concern and timely response to the issues as well as the directives given to security agencies and the state minister for defence Bello Mohammed Matawalle and the National Security Adviser to relocate to kebbi and ensure safe rescue of the schoolgirls.
In a joyous ceremony, Governor Nasir Idris formally handed over 24 rescued Maga school girls to their parents and urged them to allowed their daughters to continue with their studies as education in Kebbi state is free from primary to tertiary institutions.
The Governor confirmed that, the girls he handed over were in very good health and were never molested by terrorists while they were in captivity.
Speaking on behalf of the students’ parents, one Malam Illiyasu Garba whose four daughters were kidnapped, thanked the governor for standing firm with them throughout the abduction period.
