The wife of Zamfara state governor Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal has Monday led mass wedding of 200 female Orphans which was organized by the state Zakkat and Endowment Board as it's 2025 last quarter intervention program.
Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal charged the couples to endow tolerance, endurance and respect to each other in their marital life.
"This occasion highlights our collective commitment to supporting the most vulnerable in our communities—widows, orphans, needy families, and all those who require assistance to live with dignity".
According to her, the Administration of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, the state continues to prioritize welfare programmes that uplift our people and reduce hardship.
"For the 4th Quarter of 2025, the Zakat Board has successfully delivered a series of life-changing interventions which included
Support for the marriage of 200 female orphans, through essential household items such as furniture, bedding, and a ₦200,000 dowry, to enable them begin their marital lives with respect and comfort.
The First Lady further conducted the Settlement of debt-related cases across Shari’ah Courts and Correctional Centres, granting deserving individuals a second chance to regain freedom and rebuild their lives honorably been settled by the Zakkat and Endowment Board.
She also launched Business grants of ₦50,000 each for 200 small-scale traders, many of whom are widows, orphans, and caregivers, boosting their capacity to earn a livelihood and become financially independent and training and empowerment of 100 individuals in poultry production
Our Correspondent reports that other intervention by the state Zakkat and Endowment Board launched by the First Lady was a Computer literacy training for 10 orphans and children from less privileged homes, who will each be provided with mini computers to enhance their learning and future opportunities.
She commended the consistent and meaningful efforts of the Zakat Board in fulfilling this responsibility.
Speaking earlier, the state chairman of the Zakkat and Endowment Board, Sheik Umar Kanoma said, the board will remain resilient to uplift the living standards of the vulnerable groups in the state.
