The Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, on Saturday, 29th November 2025, attended the North-West Zonal Security Summit organized by the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on National Security at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Kaduna.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen signed by the Personal Assistant on Media and Commutation office of the Minister, Mati Ali in Kaduna.

In his goodwill message, the Minister reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes national security, unity, and community resilience. He underscored the President’s vision of a society founded on shared prosperity, tolerance, and equal respect for all citizens.

The Minister emphasized the need for a strong and adaptive national security architecture, noting recent progress achieved through enhanced synergy among security stakeholders. He reiterated that national security requires a whole-of-society approach, involving citizens, communities, and state governments.

He acknowledged the strong support provided by state governors through logistics, early-warning frameworks, and community engagement, in their roles as Chief Security Officers of their respective states.

The Minister also appreciated the vital contributions of traditional rulers, who foster trust and facilitate mediation, women and youth groups, who mobilize communities for vigilance and recovery, and religious leaders and civil society organizations, who counter misinformation and advance peace and reintegration initiatives.

He further reiterated the President’s directive for the Armed Forces and other security agencies to sustain momentum, deepen interagency synergy, strengthen intelligence sharing, and improve the protection of schools and rural communities. The Minister commended the Senate for convening the summit, noting its value in promoting national dialogue and accountability in the security sector.

He assured stakeholders that the Ministry of Defence remains fully committed to working with all partners of the summit to deepen stability, strengthen community confidence, and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the North-West.

The summit was attended by Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, representatives of other state governors, traditional rulers, Ulama, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.
